Mar 02, 2014 · My external temperature sensor always seems to be reading 3C (Celsius) higher than any other thermometer or car. It is never higher or lower than 3C. For example, I was with a friend at night and her outside temp gauge was reading -2C whereas mine was 1C. -2 was also being read by one of those outside clock+temp combo sign things. Max temperature for the gauge is 122 degrees F / 50 degrees C. Usually, the temp sensor goes bad by shorting out or a bad connection (open circuit). Open circuit = -40 degrees F and short circuit = 122 degrees F. The sensor is mounted in a floor panel under the front left of the car.
